Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can my dog get to my new home so
quickly without hotel stops?
A: For any trips that are longer than 18 hours or
with more than two pets, your driving team consists of two people.
Because the rest prior to your pet's travel, our professional
driving team can drive straight through to minimize travel time from
pickup location to new home.
Q: What is "Dog Flu (H3N8) and how can I protect my pet?
A: Canine influenza is a highly contagious respiratory infection of dogs caused by a novel influenza virus that was first discovered in 2004. It is one of several viruses and bacteria that are associated with canine infectious respiratory disease, or what’s commonly referred to as “kennel cough.” The canine influenza virus can cause respiratory disease by itself or along with other canine respiratory pathogens. Dogs of any breed, age or vaccination status are therefore susceptible to infection. Canine influenza is most likely to spread when dogs are housed together and where there is a high turnover of dogs in and out. Obviously, transmission risks occur when shipping pets that have close proximity to others (airline, cargo or multi-pet ground).
Virtually all dogs exposed to the canine influenza virus become infected; about 80 percent develop a flu-like illness, while another 20 percent do not become ill. Fortunately, most dogs recover within two weeks without any further health complications. However, some dogs progress to pneumonia, which is usually due to secondary bacterial infections.
Q: What kind of vehicles would my dog travel in?
A: We use exclusively SUV's or MiniVans for your pet's travel. The back seats are laid flat to optimize your pet's room. Other than a few small belongings of the driving team, your pet will enjoy all of that room!
Q: Are the vehicles cleaned to ensure there is no transmission of any diseases between travel?
A: Prior to pickup of your pet, the vehicle is cleaned and all freshly cleaned bedding and linens are put down. Our linens are all cleaned thoroughly with the appropriate cleaners to ensure any bacteria or transmittable disease would be killed but without any scents or residue that could cause your dog allergic reactions. This includes elimination of H3N8 "Dog Flu"
